China Post 1 Convention 2006
China Post 1 Convention
Hi Bucaroos,
Sorry this announcement is so late. After we had signed the contracts with the hotel in December they sent a letter in February saying that they had been sold and would be undergoing renovation during our event. They felt that China Post members would be a disrupting and corrupting influence on the contractors so they canceled our agreement and we had to start over.
This year’s convention of The Generals Ward & Chennault & Lieutenant Helseth Post 1 of the American Legion will be held 7 - 11 September at the Best Western InnSuits Hotel at Beach Street and I-30 in Fort Worth Texas. http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/productInfo.do?propertyCode=44517#null
The Phone number for the hotel is 817-534-4801. A regular room with one king or two beds is $69.00, an executive suite is $89.00 and a Jacuzzi suite is $145.00. Locals have already booked three of the nine executive suites so if you want one you had best hurry. I’ve got a feeling they won’t last long at this price.
For those coming in on Thursday, we have tentative plans for a night at Billy Bob’s. “The world’s largest honkey tonk and winner of the CMA Club of the Year eight times. They feature free dance lessons on Thursdays so you can learn to boot scoot just like real cowboys and cowgirls. The hotel is providing comp tickets so the only cost will be your bar bill. http://www.billybobstexas.com/
This year, for a change, we are planning some activities for the ladies. We are looking at visits to some museums including the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame & Museum. I am open to suggestion on the others. Ladies please go to the following link and tell me which others you would like. http://www.fortworth.com/01visitors/0106museums/0106museums.shtml
We also have plans for a free style shopping competition and lunch in The Fort Worth National Historic District with events like hand made boots, and custom hats, REAL western wear, fine wines, jewelry plus Texas memorabilia and the usual souvenirs, etc. http://www.fortworthstockyards.org/ http://www.stockyardsstation.com/index2.php
I thought about something for the guys like an aviation museum but I was told, in no uncertain terms, that CP1 members would much rather look at new bars than old airplanes. The following links are to a few saloons, of which Fort Worth has a more than ample supply. http://www.whiteelephantsaloon.com/default.asp http://www.beerknurd.com/ http://www.h3ranch.com/booger.html
If you need more info call me at 870-766-9918 or 817-773-8344. You can email me at jimlcp1@yahoo.com

Jim Luke also wants the following information out to members:
At the convention we will be laying on a bus for transportation to our off-site activities. I need to know if anyone will need a wheelchair lift? Please email me at jimlcp1@yahoo.com. If I don't hear anything by mid July I will assume the lift is not needed.

Rather than a wheelchair, I would like a $100 hooker without venereal disease, preferably not from Gunslinger. Seriously, what else am I supposed to sign up for on Friday and Saturday night besides the room, which I've done.
